HISTORY


SBEI-Sociedade Brasileira de Eletricidade e de Indústria Ltda., Was founded on May 18th, 1960, under the name of Hauser, Kohn & Romoff Ltda, and was administered by its founders until January 1965, when it changed its name to Kohn and Romoff Ltda.

Working on Civil Works and Electromechanical Assembly of Substations and Construction of Medium and High Voltage Transmission Lines, SBEI started in the sixties, a series of important works that contributed to the country's energy development.

In 1980, SPIE BATIGNOLLES, a French company, joined the company in a minority way, the Transport sector was created, one of the specialties of this company, which provided a new area of activity at SBEI.

At this stage, known as Kohn & Romoff Electricity and Industry limited. The new company carried out several electrification works for EBTU, CBTU and Railway Network in Belo Horizonte, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, as well as participation in the construction of the Subway in Rio de Janeiro.

In 1995, with the new name of SBEI-Sociedade Brasileira de Eletricidade e de Indústria Ltda., The French group SPIE BATIGNOLLES decided to acquire 100% of the company, thus making it the Brazilian subsidiary of the group.

From this stage SBEI starts to specialize in the following areas:

  • High and extra-high voltage power transmission lines;
  • Construction and Electromechanical Assembly of energy substations;
  • Aerial Network of Transmission of energy for urban transport.

Finally, in 2016 SBEI is acquired by the company SBEI Chile Holding SpA of Chilean origin, maintaining the name SBEI- Sociedade Brasileira de Eletricidade e de Indústria and the same area of action.
